LOWER GROUND FLOOR

The lower ground floor provides flexible accommodation that can be used for private family gatherings or for lavish entertaining on a grand scale. The banqueting hall, in particular, lends itself to various uses, from a formal banquet for sixty diners, to an informal gathering hosting numerous guests. The party room, adjoining the banqueting hall, can also be adapted for various formal or informal functions.

Like the family dining room, these two rooms have double doors that open out to a stone-clad terrace, allowing guests to mingle outside before or after functions inside. On such occasions, guests will be able to admire the wonderful gardens and parkland.

“The gilding and painting of the banqueting hall ceiling took many months to complete. Lying flat on her back, a highly-skilled artist painstakingly decorated the curved surfaces.”

BANQUETING ROOMS

————

With a uniquely curved ceiling resting on stone pillars, this is a spectacular venue for a wide range of events and functions.
The ceiling is adorned with 22 carat gold leaf gilding, decorative plasterwork and beautiful frescoes painted by talented artists.
For a formal banquet, the room can accommodate six round tables, each seating ten diners.

DINING ROOM

————

The family dining room, leading off the lower hall, is directly connected to the large catering kitchen, equipped to commercial specifications. As such, it is also a suitable venue for more formal dining occasions. Large meetings can also be held in this room. A pair of double doors provides access to a stone terrace and the Denham Place gardens.

THE BAR

————

Accessed from the pre-function room via the sitting room, the fully fitted bar is an evocative, intimate space lit by illuminated green wine bottles. From the bar, double doors open out onto the gardens.

PARTY ROOM

————

Two doors link the banqueting hall to the party room. When not used as a party or disco venue, it is admirably suited for use as additional banqueting or drinks reception space.

SITTING ROOM

————

The sitting room is a comfortable space adjoining the bar. It can be used for family get-togethers or as a guests’ cocktail lounge during larger functions.

CATERING KITCHEN

The spacious catering kitchen, equipped with stainless steel units to commercial specification, has a separate washing-up area and a dumb waiter to transport dishes to the dining room on the floor above.

COLD STORES

There are cold stores, walk-in refrigerated rooms and a large room for dry stores. These storerooms can be accessed directly from the professional kitchen.

PRE-FUNCTION ROOM

At the foot of the stairs leading down from the grand entrance hall, the pre-function room is a welcoming space. Doors lead to ladies and gents’ cloakrooms and the room connects directly to the banqueting hall and sitting room.

ARCHIVE ROOM

Work on the construction of Denham Place began in 1688, so there are centuries of records relating to the house. Many are safely stored in this archive room. The history of the estate stretches back into the distant past, of course, as Denham is listed in the Domesday Book of 1086.

LAUNDRY

The spacious, fully equipped laundry room can cope with high volumes of clothes and household linen. Each bedroom suite has its own designated tumble dryer.

STAFF AREAS

Permanent and agency, function-related staff can enter Denham Place via the lower ground floor staff entrance. Inside, they can change into their uniforms, store their belongings and use the staff cloakrooms.
