FIRST FLOOR
Visitors to the first floor of Denham Place might well believe they have inadvertently wandered into the royal bedchambers of the Chateau de Versailles, near Paris. On every surface, palatial opulence is on display. Elaborate frescoes, the generous application of gold leaf, drapes of pure silk and specially commissioned hand-tufted carpets combine to create an aura of unabashed luxury.
There are four magnificent bedroom suites, all with dressing rooms and ensuite bathrooms, where the walls and floors are clad in fine Italian marble. The first floor also features two further bedrooms, one of which connects directly to The Denham Suite.
“On the first floor, my creativity was given full reign. I commissioned beautiful chandeliers, richly patterned carpets and yard upon yard of pure silk, all designed to be historically accurate yet sumptuous in feel.”

THE DENHAM SUITE
Not only does this bedroom cover an expansive area, it also includes a separate secondary bedroom, two ensuite bathrooms and a dressing room spread across three floors connected by a spiral staircase. In the two bathrooms, marble from one of Italy’s most sought-after quarries has been used to great effect.
The bedroom suites are possibly too impressive to be restricted to residents and their overnight guests. Perhaps they offer an opportunity to revive a bygone custom, when Kings and Queens of England received visitors in the comfort of their bedchambers.
THE MISBOURNE SUITE
This suite has an ensuite bathroom and separate dressing room, spread over two floors, that also accommodates a study. The specially commissioned four-poster super king-size bed is handcrafted from hardwood with pure silk drapes woven at England’s oldest surviving weaving mill.
THE LANCELOT SUITE
In this suite, as in each palatial bedroom suite, no expense or effort has been spared to create a sanctuary of comfort and elegance. Lush fabrics, profuse gilding, an elaborate chandelier and a lavish marble bathroom with a voluminous bath and shower have been crafted to create an idyllic private retreat.
THE WILLIAM & MARY SUITE
In this suite, a group of angelic figures, painted in vivid colour, look down from their vantage points on the ceiling. Their view takes in a scene of sumptuous comfort. As for the view from the tall sash windows, this includes the River Misbourne as it meanders its way to the lake within the Denham Place parkland.
SECOND FLOOR
Served by the lift and staircase, the second floor features seven further bedroom suites, all luxuriously appointed with ensuite bathrooms. Four of equal size occupy each wing of the house and there are two smaller bedroom suites. The seventh bedroom forms part of an elegant self-contained penthouse apartment with a kitchen and sitting room. The highest sitting room in the house, this room offers glorious views of the parkland, meadow and adjoining golf course.
